Resin Infusion Training

Ocean Gecko receives resin infusion training from ATL Composites.

Ocean Gecko were pleased to welcome Mr. Anthony Basilone from ATL Composites for resin infusion training. Ocean Gecko has used vacuum bagging as a standard for boat hull production for the last few years but have decided to switch to infusion for the production of the all epoxy Guardian fast patrol craft. Managing Director of Ocean Gecko, Duncan Trower was also present at the training and states "Ocean Gecko have had a long term relationship with ATL Composites and the timing is now right to move our experienced composite department from vacuum bagging to vacuum infusion. Over the years ATL have been exemplary in backing up their materials with technical know how and were the obvious choice as partners to supply materials for the soon to be launched Guardian as well as other projects we have in the pipeline."

Joy Aspe, head of the composites division is proud that Ocean Gecko will be producing infused products made by Filipinos, in the Philippines, that are equal in quality to foreign made products. Joy, who was present throughout the two day training session says "the training from ATL will help us switch from vacuum bagging to infusion with minimum fuss. Ocean Gecko is the first Philippine company to be resin infusing boats and we are proud to be setting the standard."

During the visit Anthony also inspected the on-going fairing works to 'Anda', whose fairing system for hull and superstructure were supplied by ATL Composites. As we have come to expect from ATL, there was good advice especially with regard to minimising weight on the bridge deck using a modified epoxy to fair the steel prior to the teak deck being laid.
